Canada’s Boreal Forest is one of the world’s largest intact ecosystems and is a vital part of Canada’s environment, culture, and economy. It is also home to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and many oil and gas project sites. These sites, and the people who work on them, are surrounded by the natural breeding and denning area for numerous mammals and over 150 types of birds.
