Overview

The intent of the IRP is to provide industry with consistent application of waste management practices and safer handling. The scope of IRP 28 is specific to waste generated during drilling and completion operations (including typical camp wastes) and includes:

  • waste definitions
  • classification and characterization requirement
  • responsibilities (operator, waste generator, transporter, receiver)
  • on-site storage requirements
  • disposal options
  • transportation

The IRP is not intended to replace local jurisdictional regulations or those defined in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
