Summary
The purpose of this guideline is to help organizations in the energy sector (and others) design and implement an effective journey management program. The goal is to assist in assessing journey hazards and in minimizing unnecessary trips.
Why Journey Management Matters
Driving-related incidents continue to be a leading cause of occupational fatalities in the energy sector.
Based on Workers’ Compensation Board data (2002–2023), events involving transportation vehicles, powered industrial vehicles and mobile equipment account for a significant portion of fatalities. Within this category, highway accidents represent 74% of total occupational fatalities.
Journey management helps organizations better understand and control transportation risk.
