About

These resources were developed after the death of an 18-year-old worker in Alberta. As part of a creative sentence issued by the courts, the Government of Alberta and Energy Safety Canada partnered to create tools that help industry learn from this loss.

Young and new workers want to do well, but they may not see the hazards, know the risks, or feel comfortable speaking up. These tools help leaders bring young and new workers into the job safely by starting with real conversations about what it means to keep them safe.

What's included?

Key crew questions

  • Do our new workers know who to ask when unsure?

  • Are we teaching them the job, or expecting them to “figure it out”?

  • Do our experienced workers understand their role in mentoring?
